A bit of history

Originally part of the Rancho Tujunga Spanish land grant, the area was homesteaded starting in 1902 and known as Tujunga Terrace before being renamed Lake View Terrace in 1948, reflecting its view of the then-water-filled Hansen Dam reservoir. The neighborhood is widely known as the site of the March 3, 1991 arrest and beating of Rodney King by LAPD officers, an event that led to the 1992 Los Angeles riots.
